Guess what?! It’s Giveaway time!
I received in the mail the other day a copy of Disney’s Lemonade Mouth to review and a copy for one lucky reader to win.
Lemonade Mouth is about a group of 5 young teens Olivia, (Bridgit Mendler), Mo (Naomi Scott), Charlie (Blake Michael), Stella, (Hayley Kiyoko), and Wen (Adam Hicks)who meet in detention, find they all have musical talent and form a band, but they are at the bottom of the school rank (literally, in the basement) as far as the Principal (Christopher McDonald) is concerned, as he does everything he can to extinguish their talent and voice within the school.
The kids all have various struggles and difficulties in their lives that I am sure young teens could be able to relate to, from step families, to overbearing parents, dealing with death in the family that they need to overcome, and overcome they do but not without a struggle first!
I don’t want to give too much away but those kids can certainly sing, what voices and talent! I’m sure the soundtrack would be a favourite.
Lemonade Mouth is a Disney Channel movie so having only free to air tv I hadn’t heard of it. I was not a huge fan of High School Musical so I was a little skeptical but it was a well written movie, the characters were likeable and the message of friendship really stood out to me.
I wasn’t sure if my children aged 5 and 8 would find this movie interesting but they sat through the whole movie, and if my daughter doesn’t like something she won’t sit and watch! My daughter also said “It’s Awesome” as the last song the band performed was on.
It would suit an older age bracket perhaps 10-Teens as I think some of the story line went over my kids head, but in saying that they still enjoyed watching it and as a parent I would recommend it. I really enjoyed the songs and the movie encouraged kids to go for their dreams and not be trodden down by others who think they are better but to push on and succeed.
